Kaguya Usagi, the protagonist of my next game, has gone through a few design iterations before her final one seen in her model.
Her concept was inspired by the Princess Kaguya and Oktsukimi Japanese folktales. To reflect the original folktale, I incorporated the colors of bamboo into her outfit. Her hammer was inspired by the hammer used to pound mochi like in the Oktsukimi folktale, with an added twist of it being carrot shaped to match her rabbit design.
The changes between her first iteration and her final one emphasize her tomboyish nature and add shape clarity to any future animations. Her short skirt and long sleeves contrast each other and draw attention to the top half of her design, which is important since all her attack animations will have a heavy emphasis on her upper body.
